"It’s not news to the class of 2009 that you’re facing the worst employment prospects in 50 years or so."

Thank you Timothy Egan of the New York Times. You have imbued us with a sense of dread and hopelessness. But, why is the job search environment so terrible? I am told it is because of rising unemployment rates, hiring freezes and older workers not changing jobs. The same journalists who hark the horrors of the job market tell me to volunteer, take a crappy job and live at home.

I will not be defeated so easily. I can't give up on finding a good job. I'm not even talking about my dream job. I just want something that I could find enjoyable and will pay off my student loans. It is my pot of gold at the end of the rainbow.

Of course, if there is no pain then there is no gain. I'm willing to bang my head against the job boards all day and allow the rejection letters to slowly siphon off my self-esteem. Perhaps I can woo potential employers with my tenacity.
